Albi's story
I was born into the meat and dairy industry, and though my rescue story is not entirely clear, what we do know is that I’m my own hero! I escaped and saved myself from slaughter. Fortunately, I came across good people who helped me complete the journey I had started – to a dignified and safe life.
So I’m a hero and this is my story
A call was made to Freedom Farm Sanctuary regarding a cute lamb that was running free on a hot day in the middle of a busy road (yes, that’s me!). Against all odds, I survived the heat and the cars rushing by and ended up at a security checkpoint of a high-tech company. Luckily, I came across two men who saw me and realised that I needed help. Within 3 hours of making the call, I was safe at my new forever home, and surrounded by love. A veterinarian doctor examined me and took care of my wounds, and it turned out I was only about 3 months old! I was given a bottle of formula and a quiet corner to relax in. At the farm, I met new friends like Billy the lamb who was in his wheelchair, and Gary who I’ve since learned he’s very famous and so I like to follow him around :)
Not many people understand that the meat and dairy industries are one of the same – as a male lamb, Albie was supposed to be slaughtered for his meat. His mother is being repeatedly impregnated, then used by the dairy industry for her milk. Once she can longer give birth she will be taken to slaughter as well.
Thank you to all the people reading these words. Thanks to people like you who care about living beings like Albie, Freedom Farm Sanctuary is able to exist. Little Albie will now live on with his many companions. It is our hope that by sharing his story we will be able to save many more lives!
Please consider taking part in Albie’s adoption and help us further by sharing what we do with others.
Big thanks 💚
