The salvation of Snow and White began with the rescue of Zili and Gili, two lambs saved by Shai-Li.
After their rescue, Zili and Gili were transferred to Idit (a pseudonym). Idit gave them their first real home, and became attached to them. Unfortunately, she was forced to part with them and move them to another home, which was also warm and pleasant. But the time Idit spent providing a home for Zili and GIli made her fall in love with sheep.

One day, on her way to the store, Idit spotted a truck filled with lambs, babies that were supposed to still be suckling. Apparently, they were all in bad health, with many close to demise. They were probably on their way to imminent slaughter. After begging the truck driver lengthily, he finally agreed to give her two lambs.
She named them Snow and White. White’s situation was critical, and she seemed to be dying, requiring intensive care. For an entire week, Idit cared for her devotedly, hydrating her and struggling to get some food into her mouth. Idit’s large dog also stayed close to White, cleaning her and licking her umbilical cord as if she were her mother. Eventually, White’s condition improved and she was no longer in danger.
Shai-Li, an honorary witness to the salvation of this adorable threesome, relates: “at first when I would come visit them, they would run away, climbing under each other in fright. But soon enough they became accustomed to me, and today they run up to meet me at the gate, they jump on me, lick me and play with me… I get the feeling that they know they were rescued from certain death.”
