In December 2018, 54 chickens from a Breeding Coop, arrived to the farm in the middle of the night.
The chickens remained in the Industrial chicken coop to die slowly, without water, food or proper sanitation.
The chickens stayed in the chicken coop in a very difficult conditions: they arrived filled with feces, around the soles of their feet and delicate fingers accumulated feces that hardened and held their delicate and small body like a weight. This condition kept them from walking and in some cases also to get to their food and water containers. Sometimes the fingers degenerate or break.
According to animal rights activists, most of the free-range eggs arrives from places where the chickens are kept under similar conditions.
Patiently, along 3 days with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, each hen underwent an hour long treatment in which we removed the lumps of feces that had been wrapped around their legs for two whole years.
We patiently soften and broke them, cut the feathers that formed into a hard lump of feces and dirt and each of them had a warm bath to wash away the dirt and the strong smell they had come with.
