Gali came to us blind, covered in excrement and terrified.
Being blind, she was unable to get to the food, therefore the farmers knew she would be unable to find her way to the milking machines. Usually “useless” calves are sold for meat, but because she was not able to feed properly, she was severely underweight and consequently not profitable for sale. Just before her slaughter, we were able to convince the farmer to have mercy upon her and he released her to us.

Gali’s size and disability left her vulnerable to injury when the other cows are running, jumping and playing soccer, so she is housed separately from the others. However, we are happy to report that Gali has made great strides this week! She has been frolicking and playing with the other cows, and enjoying her new-found confidence enough to canter, run and play away from the confines of the border fence. Gali celebrated her new sense of self-assurance with her friends Maayan and Eden. Buba is jealous of all the attention Gali is getting, but we hope with time their relationship will strengthen.
