This is the marvelous rescue story of the sheep Gila.
Gila fell in to a water pit it seemed that her fate was domed to be long sufferable death.
Only to Gila’s luck, Gil, a gas engineer, was on patrol at the time and notices the open pit. He glanced inside and to his amazement saw a sheep at the bottom.
He called the animal rescue center “Tno Lachayot Lichyutand”, and reached Yael Arkin. Yael contacted Avi Kozi who immediately went out to the rescue mission.
When Avi noticed the water reaching Gila’s stomach he knew it was only a matter of time until she would collapse from exhaustion into the water and drown.
Without losing precious time, Avi went down the pit; tied and secured ropes around Gila’s body and began pulling her up from the pit.
During the rescue, Gila was quiet and calm, and allowed him to continue doing all the actions required to save her life. In her instincts she sensed that she was in good hands.
Slowly and carefully she was pulled up. After a few nerve wrecking moments she had arrived at the top safe and sound. Gila, like every animal rescued by Avi’, received his mandatory kiss – her life was saved.
Today she enjoys grazing grass and flowers in Avi’s back yard with her new friend – a lamb which Avi had rescued in a separate occasion.
Sometimes all you need is to be alert, pay attention, a good intention and make a call or two. Sometimes that’s all it takes to change destinies, have life sentences turned and grant life to innocent wonderful creature.
