On the eve of Passover, we received an alarming message stating that there was a calf stuck in a water reservoir in the south. They explained that more than half of his body was submerged under water, and that he was unable to move. He had probably been there for over a day and a half, and they could not tell if he would be able to survive. The good people who found the calf immediately prepared a rescue plan, and eventually were able to pull him out of the reservoir using ropes and pipes they had in their car.
The moment the exhausted calf was pulled out of the water, he collapsed. He was suffering from hypothermia, and could not stop shaking. He was immediately taken to a veterinary hospital where he was treated for several days until he recovered his strength.
All of the residents, staff and volunteers at the the Freedom Farm Sanctuary were very excited to welcome the little calf, now named Oudi. Everyone greeted him with love and warmth, letting him know that he had the good fortune to have been taken to a safe haven. Here at the Freedom Farm Sanctuary, Oudi will live in freedom, and not be used as a product. He will be treated with the love and respect every being deserves, all the days of his life.
